Lifeforce vs.10X

Lifeforce vs.10X

When my best friend was diagnosed with a pretty severe autoimmune condition, she took it upon herself to be more proactive about her health. She started working out more, lost a lot of weight, and worked to manage her symptoms more naturally.

I was surprised that she was getting so much support for these kinds of things from her doctor, who I imagined was incredibly busy. Well, as it turned out, she wasn’t. She was using other options instead.

That’s when I learned that you could pay for genetic testing or biomarker testing without having to go through your insurance or wait 6 months for your doctor to have availability. So I decided to look into it myself and see what I could learn. Here is how two of the companies, Lifeforce and 10X Health, compare.

Lifeforce vs. 10X: Purpose

Lifeforce is a company centered on providing data for personalized biomarkers and helping you craft and maintain a long-term plan for improvement. Using a proprietary “lifescore” as a credit score for your health, they work to give you detailed guidance on your baseline health and how your scores are aided toward 85 with things like supplements, exercise, stress management, and other lifestyle changes.

10X is genetic testing. The idea behind the program is offering customers more patient-centric data, the kind that modern doctors and medical centers aren’t positioned to do. They offer:

  1. Precision genetic testing
  2. Genetic testing
  3. Blood testing
  4. IV services

Not all of these are available in every location, especially the IV services, but the genetic tests can be ordered online and shipped across the United States or the United Kingdom.

Lifeforce is best for:

People who want personalized, long-term data tracking and health plans

10x is best for:

People who want one-off genetic testing

Lifeforce vs. 10X: Types of Testing

Lifeforce

Lifeforce uses a blood draw to review 50+ biomarkers. These biomarkers are related to:

  1.  Longevity
  2.  Vitality
  3.  Sexual health
  4.  Hormones
  5.  Weight loss
  6.  Cardiac risk
  7.  Strength
  8.  Brain health

With a membership, you schedule your first blood draw either at home or in a lab, after which you meet with a board-certified clinician to review your results, build a plan, and start moving toward better results with your action plan. The action plan involves dedicated Lifeforce health coaching and blood draws to test your progress every 3 months.

10X

For 10X, “Precision Genetic Testing” is available in the UK and US. They send you a test that analyzes 54 different genes (they claim that no needles are required). Then, you get a 400-page comprehensive road map that directs you to proper workouts, diet, supplements, and other things based on your findings. If you so choose, using your genetic data, you can buy supplements that are blended specifically for you from the company.

The “Genetic Testing” is an at-home kit. Within the kit, you’ll find all the instructions you need to do a cotton swab, send it back, and then get your genetic test results and a report. They also provide personalized supplement protocol, though they don’t tell you exactly what that means, and I honestly have no idea.

Blood testing is, well, blood testing. You can order a blood test that analyzes 70 biomarkers and gives you a comprehensive report about your biomarkers, particularly hormones, glucose control, and nutrient deficiency.

The IV services are exactly what you think: IV drips with proprietary blends of nutrients to help you boost your health. There is a lot of science behind IV drips for things like sickness recovery, immune boosting, and (at least in Las Vegas) hangover treatments. There is a reason hospitals use an IV drip to deliver nutrients, because it gets absorbed quickly.

This is the same reason 10X Health offers them. These are administered wherever you are, whether that’s a hotel room or your house. They come to you after you book your appointment and administer the IV drip, and after about an hour, they leave. However, this service is only available in:

  • Miami
  • Naples
  • Scottsdale
  • Las Vegas
  • Beverly Hills

Lifeforce is best for:

People who want a single test for biomarkers that is repeated regularly

10x is best for:

People who want options for blood draws, IV infusions, and genetic tests

So what happens after the tests?

Lifeforce vs. 10X: Results

What happens after they run the tests?

For starters, Lifeforce tends to get results quickly. You get your results in about one week. The results come with a breakdown of your findings and a 45-minute one-on-one consultation with a board-certified health professional. This clinician goes over your findings with you and is there to answer any questions you might have.

10X doesn’t have a comparable form of analysis after the fact. Instead, they give you a report with a plan and then a 10-week program.

Lifeforce is best for:

People who want personalized dashboards updated in real time with health data and consultations with health coaches

10x is best for:

People who want a single follow-up and a report

Lifeforce vs. 10X: Support

Lifeforce is a membership-based program, which means you can stay with them to receive the same type of ongoing support for as long as you need, as long as you pay your monthly subscription.

Part of that membership includes:

  1. Quarterly blood draws
  2. Clinical consultation
  3. Health plan
  4. Health coach
  5. Health tracking
  6. Supplement discounts
  7. Rx treatment

The goal of the organization is to help you achieve that optimum score for your health, and that means ongoing, quarterly blood draws to compare to your baseline, a health tracking dashboard that’s customized to the improvements you’re making on a daily basis, with support from a dedicated health coach.

10X Health gives you a personal blood report with a one-on-one call conducted by a “wellness advisor”– very important to recognize that this term does not mean doctor or anyone who went to medical school. Then, they upsell you on a 10-week program that helps you get into “the best shape of your life”– this is a direct quote from the website. Very salesy.

I’m also concerned that it doesn’t tell you whether you have to schedule an in-person appointment or go to a clinic to get the blood test.

To be clear, this 10-week program is all they offer. So presumably, after the 10 weeks, you are completely on your own.

Lifeforce is best for:

People who want personalized, long-term programs that include prescriptions, supplements, health tracking, and coaching

10x is best for:

People who want a ten-week, short and sweet health program to get them started

Lifeforce vs. 10X: Supplements

Lifeforce also gives you access to US-made supplements, and these can be purchased without a membership, but you get a 30% discount if you have a membership. As a member, you also get access to pharmaceuticals like peptide therapy or hormone therapy on a prescription basis, but you can’t access this benefit if you don’t have the membership.

10X also has supplements. You can purchase several supplements like plant protein powder, magnesium supplements, proprietary “wave crushers energy powder” (whatever that is), and electrolyte packages to mix in your water. Honestly, all the things they offer look like the array of garbage you find for sale when you check out at your gym.

Full disclosure, the website looks like a slightly modified version of the MLM’s from 2015, where everyone was upselling with a very lengthy homepage. You know, the kind you could scroll through for hours while never reaching the bottom. And yet, they didn’t say much of anything despite being overflowing with text. Anyway.

Lifeforce is best for:

People who want access to discounted supplements and prescriptions

10x is best for:

People who want more commercialized products like hydration packets, supplements, and protein powder

Lifeforce vs. 10X: Costs

The cost of Lifeforce is $149 per month. As it is a membership-based program, you do get discounts on supplements as a member (30% off whatever you purchase). However, aside from that, you can expect the same monthly cost without any other changes.

Where Lifeforce offers very clear-cut pricing that’s easy to find, the kind you don’t have to go searching for, 10X is the opposite. There is no information on the front of their website as to what the costs are for any of the services. In fact, you have to fill out the lead gen form to get access on blood testing or IV treatment costs. If you want supplements or genetic tests, you have to go to the storefront.

The storefront is where you find information on supplements and genetic tests. The genetic test is around $600, and the Precision genetic test is twice that. There is no information listed on the price of blood tests or IV infusions without scheduling an appointment.

Lifeforce is best for:

People who want to pay for monthly memberships they can control

10x is best for:

People who want to pay for a one-off charge

Lifeforce vs. 10X: Website

With Lifeforce, as mentioned, one of the biggest bonuses for the ongoing support comes from the interactive dashboard. This dashboard is set up to allow you easy access to different areas of your health, particularly the different areas they test, like hormone health and cardiovascular health. Under these areas, you can see where your numbers are and where they have been over time (at least for however long you’ve maintained your membership) and juxtapose this to where you want them to be.

10X doesn’t have that type of ongoing support. The 10X website has very little information on it, with no details on their location. It’s a merchandise opportunity, but otherwise, there’s very little information about who they are.

The difficult-to-navigate website is a problem because they are very unclear about the costs of blood draws and IV treatments. These are both lead gen forms, so you have to submit your contact information before they give you any additional details.

Lifeforce is best for:

People who want an interactive dashboard with a supportive interface

10x is best for:

People who don’t care about how good or bad a website is/functions

Summing Up

So, which one is best, Lifeforce or 10X

10X is better for people who want genetic tests, rather than biomarkers. It is also better for those who want to walk away with their test results, and not have to pay or come back to the company.

Lifeforce is better for just about everything else, including people who want help with specific health issues, want ongoing support from health coaches, and access to supplements and prescriptions.
